Information for Parents and Carers

We recognise the value and importance of strong partnerships with parents and carers. There are many ways in which parents and carers can become involved with school life:
  • Throughout the year there are assemblies, school productions, sporting and other events to which you will be invited.
  • Occasional helpers are always welcome in classrooms and on school visits.
  • We also appreciate support on a regular basis for which we provide a short induction session at the start of each year for new parents. however, if you would like to come into school to help or join in, you don't have to wait until the start of a new year. At any point, contact the office and ask to speak to Mrs Wilkinson who will be happy to help.
  • We will always contact you if we have any concerns about your child. We value the support of parents and carers in these matters. A home-school agreement is made when your child begins at Heron Hill.
  • Homework is a link between home and school; it is an opportunity for parents to be involved in their child’s school work and, at an appropriate level, will be given to all children.
  • Friends of Heron Hill is a group of parents and staff who work in partnership to arrange fundraising events and activities throughout the year. New members are always welcomed and the success of events relies on strong support from us all.
  • Several members of the school’s Governing Body are parents. You will be informed when a vacancy arises and may wish to consider nominating yourself for this role.

Communication with Parents

Good communication between home and school is vital to ensure a happy and successful partnership.

We have a true open door policy as we recognise the importance of sharing information and encourage parents to keep us informed of any issues or concerns. In this way we can ensure we provide the best support we can for your child. In the case of absence you should inform school of the reasons as soon as possible. Most parents subscribe to our “ParentMail” e-mail and texting service which ensures efficient contact between home and school whilst reducing our environmental impact.
