Our Partnerships

At Heron Hill School we believe a school should be a real part of the community and one of the ways we try to achieve this is by developing positive partnerships with other similarly-minded organisations and charities.

Open Arms Academy, Kenya

Since 2018, we have welcomed teachers from Open Arms Academy here and several of our staff have visited the school in Kenya. We have regular live links with Open Arms and celebrate Kenya day each year.

To find out more about our Kenya Partnership, go to our Global Learning Page here.

Grundschule Nord - Rinteln, Germany

For many years we have regularly exchange cards and letters with pupils in Grundschule Nord, Rinteln, which was initially started as part of the town twinning relationship between Kendal and Rinteln.

Charity Partners

The school raises funds for Manna House, Children in Need, St John's Hospice, New Beginnings, NW Air Ambulance, Marie Curie and The Children's Society through various events and activities.   Our choir sings carols for Heron Hill Care Home at Christmas.

School Partners

Kendal Parish Church
Parish Church clergy lead assemblies at school and our pupils make visits to the church, to learn about Christianity, to attend workshops or to hold Christmas services.  Heron Hill School participates in the annual Christmas Tree Festival.

NISCU  - Northern Inter Schools Christian Union - who deliver occasional RE lessons and assemblies.

Kendal Primary Partnership (KPP): Teacher Training Opportunity

Heron Hill School is part of Kendal Primary Partnership (KPP), which is proud to be working with the University of Cumbria (UoC) for School Direct.  If you study with KPP, you will be working towards a PgCE course at Masters level, which will lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Kendal Collaborative Partnership (KCP) is a cluster of schools from within and around Kendal that feed into the two Kendal Secondary Schools. The schools are working together to  provide pupils and staff with curricular support, training, arts and sports events and festivals.
